COURSE DESCRIPTION

All of my classes are based on the philosophy that science is understood best by doing science experiments and investigations, not by lecture and reading chapters in your textbook. We will do labs almost everyday, many of which will be designed by the students themselves. We will use technology to collect data, take pictures and videos, and present our findings, as well as countless other applications. My goal is to make everyone truly love science and spark a lifelong curiosity in the world around them.

IPC  Science 9

IPC is a high school level course that is more rigorous than most classes. We study Chemistry in the Fall and Physics in the Spring, with Life and Earth Sciences Integrated into the curriculum with technology. We will work a lot with current Brain Research to empower students to maximize their ability to create long term memories, which will help them as they start their final exams. This is a hands-on , minds-on class with advanced concepts explored through labs and computer simulations.

Science 8

Science 8 covers many of the same concepts as IPC but at a slower pace with more review. It has more Earth, Space, and Life Science in the curriculum but still follows a hands-on approach. This class is designed for students who are not taking Algebra, but still want an exciting, student-centered, lab-based science class.

UNIT OVERVIEW

Our first unit this semester will focus on motion and forces. We will start with a review of Speed, Velocity, and Acceleration, then progress to the forces that are applied to create that motion. This is a very interactive unit with a lot of movement around the classroom and even outside. Students should focus on applying the mathematical formulas to actual experiences done in class.
